Environmental Sustainability |
| As an environmental leader, KI is committed to continually updating production practices with advances in technology and new knowledge in health and environmental sciences.
From the beginning of a design project, KI looks at the use of sustainable materials from recycled content to its ability to be disassembled and repaired at the end of its life cycle. Recycled packaging materials are also used when possible. Most recently, KI was selected as the 2006 WasteWise Packaging Reduction Gold Achievement winner for eliminating 215 tons of unnecessary packaging materials at its Wisconsin plants in 2005.
KI's "green" initiatives start in-house, as several programs are in place to help employees become more environmentally responsible. These include a computer/monitor disposal program, a car pool program and a battery disposal program among others. All programs are designed to help employees in the process of protecting their local environment. |
